THE NEUTERING OF AMERICAN SOCIETY

Each day I either hear or see something about decisions being made by narrow minded people that pound home the fact that our country and “core-principles” are really in jeopardy  The latest was a school in Michigan that has banned kids play “tag” or running in “packs”as they called it. Their reasons are that it could be harmful to other children and increase the actions of pushing and shoving!

First it was dodge-ball, then kick ball and now tag. I guess when kids go out for recess to burn off a little pent-up energy they should just stand in place at safe distances from each other or perhaps just play virtual tag?… you see its games like tag that can be linked to future acts of violence and terrorism with little Johnny or sweet little Susie! Society must make an active stand now to curb these games to prevent future catastrophes.

Now when we were kids, we played these games and even had toy guns to play army so we could emulate our favorite movie or TV Heroes.  We even watched shows like Combat with Vic Morrow or Rat Patrol which praised the exploits of our WWII veterans. We played sports on the street and yes we got a few scrapes and bruises but to my knowledge I don’t think that it produced a more violent society. What it did produce was a generation that understood that not everything was equal and fair. There were winners and losers and we learned the emotional effects of being on either side from one time to another. We learned the “rules of engagement” of how to interact with each other and the competitive nature of society that would provide life’s lessons for the future. All of which were in line with what makes America well you know America!

But now these core values are under attack. Instead of letting kids be kids to learn the ways of the world, we want to alter their behaviors such that we can manufacture the outcomes of social events to ensure that “everything is fair”.  We no longer encourage those with gifts to excel if it means that that they might come out ahead of others, no instead we’ll slow them down or alter the rules so that those of less talent can also “win” so as their fragile little feelings stay intact. The everybody “gets a trophy” mentality is in full swing.
It’s not what we did or how we got there but that everybody “feels” good.

Now this might seem harmless on the soccer field or school yard when the participants are 7 years old but what it is really doing is eroding the core foundation of what has made Americans exceptional at a very young age and in the process giving more power to “THE PROCESS” while limiting individual accountability. Because you see little Johnny or Susie eventually become adults and have gone their whole lives thinking that all they have to do is show up and they’ll be rewarded for it. Because all they've had to be is nice and stay within the barriers of the group fearful of taking steps out of line to excel as it may overshadow little Timmy and damage his self esteem.

So on a broader scale what is this really doing? We’re teaching our kids, the future generations of our country to be just Vanilla. But coming out of the other side of the "proverbial mouth" is a non-stop flow of criticism about how we are not accepting of diversity and need to do more. Well which way is it? Everybody is the same or everybody is different? I guess the ruling class gets to decide on when and where to apply the rules, as they seem to be ever changing to conveniently fit into the drama of the day.

In a time when children are being thrown out of school because they drew a picture of a gun or some stick figures that could be interpreted as acting violently the absurd has become the surreal!

However there is nothing done or said about the way too real graphic violence is evident in video games. Games that encourage lawlessness and portray a casual approach to killing. Perhaps it’s this exposure rather than playground games that could be targeted as the reason that other “children” shoot up schools and movie theaters with unfazed numbness? If the liberals have their way we’ll all be just a society of equals. We’ll all be issued our “olive-drab” jumpsuits and bamboo flip-flops and obediently stand in line to worship the powers that be. Oh does that sound familiar…China, N. Korea, Cuba…what’s the common denominator? A liberal, socialist, communist agenda that has failed throughout history!

Yet the progressives in this country seek to move closer and closer to this type of grand utopia. They see it as having the freedoms they seek because now everyone will be given a chance to be on even footing, but the reality is that with every step we take in this direction we are imprisoning ourselves by giving up our freedoms to be individuals to the state.

Maybe we’ll become the “non-violent” society portrayed in the movie Demolition Man where we can get fined for doing and saying bad things…"violation of the Verbal Morality Statute" Or maybe we'll wake up and get some "testicular fortitude" and fight to keep being how we are...
