As I reflect on the 233rd birthday of our country, I can't help but think of how much of it we have lost. From the MTV generation to reality TV to the era of ridiculus political correctness bits and pieces have just vanished!
What happened? What happened to the times when we were proud of this country and who we are? What happened to the times when we trusted our leaders and their decisions somewhat made sense for the greater good? What happened to not having to appoligize for being American? Dispite our differences and all of the faults we have as a people and our continued diversity, when it mattered we still stood together as "One Nation Under God"!
I'm not quite convinced that that statement holds true today as much as it once did. As a people we have become such a divisive bunch at the ready to launch full-scale attacks at each other for causes & beliefs that in the grand scheme of things are not so significant but all the while may do more harm than good. Kind of like "we can win the battle, but lose the war".
If we're not careful we may all lose and then perhaps our petty differences won't matter so much!
Let's look around people, get our heads out of the sand and really absorb the consequences of our actions. Let's try to put the pieces of this puzzle back together while we still can and the pieces are still ours to control!
The United States is the greatest country on earth and the sooner we realize the good in her as opposed to the bad and appreciate what we have been afforded as her citizens, then perhaps we can save what we once knew?
"GOD BLESS AMERICA"
