Now fast forward to today and compare the modern day rulers; (Obama, Pelosi & Reid), with their predecessors. You have programs in place that are designed to punish the entrepreneurial spirit, demonize those who have gained success and in theory limit the earning potential of many through the demand for higher taxes and a sea of “red-tape”. The results are that many businesses are becoming paralyzed by the uncertainty and are not reinvesting their profits to expand or create needed jobs since in most cases profits would be seen as “undo” rewards and confiscated through the “It’s not fair” doctrine.
So what is the mindset? It is one in which no new jobs are being created. Businesses are taking a wait and see approach and there is a fear of being viewed as “too successful” since you would either be penalized by higher taxes or demonized as a villain because you might have a little more than anyone else! The rule that is in play here is one that has been around for quite some time whereby the underlying goal is to make “everyone rich by making a few poor”; Or in other words “redistribution”.Well that never works. History shows us that by taking that approach everyone becomes “poor”. The so-called rich lose their wealth and the poor, well they stay poor! Nobody wins except the ruling class. Just ask those people in Cuba who still drive their 1965 Buick's if this is working out for them. In theory it looks like the ruling class wants to help the less fortunate, or at least that’s what they say anyway, but the reality is that by taking this approach they inflict more harm upon them by condemning them to a life of unemployment, poverty & co dependence! You see it’s the “demonic” rich that are the ones who provide the majority of the jobs, except for the federal gov’t. whose ranks have been bloated by over 400k jobs since 2007. But that’s a story for another day.
So getting back to the “job creators”, these are made up of small to mid-sized businesses who through their own hard work and entrepreneurial successes have accumulated levels of wealth that have become the backbone of our society. This group is also one of the largest contributors of tax revenue to the federal gov’t. I believe that it is the top 10% of wage earners that produce 40% of the tax base in this country. The bottom portions of the population or 60% of the workers pay about 20% of the taxes and a staggering 40% of the US population pays nothing! And it is this 40% that garners about 80% of the gov’t entitlements and still wants more!
Now I’m no mathematical wizard but if you put a pencil to this it looks like the wealthy are paying their fair share and then some and also creating jobs in the process so that the lower 60% can work! But if the Obama administration has it their way the wealthy would lose their ability to create these jobs and most likely become unemployed themselves thus creating a “swell” at the bottom where perhaps 50-60% of the people do not contribute anything to tax revenue. So tell me again how this would be a good thing for the gov’t?
Look throughout this country’s existence it has always been the small business owners who have created products, invented things and driven the nation’s economy. So what if they have accumulated wealth and live accordingly. You can’t tell me that the “elitists” in Washington are living any differently. These people “are” the people they purport to hate! So if business owners are able to give back to others by putting them to work and keep the economic wheels-of-progress turning then so be it that we provide them a tax break. You see for the average American having a “PAYCHECK” is far better than a “TAX-BREAK”!
The way I see it is that throughout history there have always been classes in society. Nobody ever said it had to be fair. There is disparity in everything from sports to relationships. “One man’s cottage is another man’s castle”. If American families can continue to provide for themselves then we all win. So let’s stop looking at what everybody else has and stop whining about fairness and start concentrating on what you can do to improve your own situation by earning it!
Nobody said it would be easy- Life is tough- wear a cup! Sometimes another guy’s “piece of the pie” is bigger, deal with it and be thankful that you even got a piece.
Hopefully with the results of the mid-term elections we will be able to right this ship because God knows it’s been taking on water. Going into 2011 my hope is that we bring back a little “sanity” to how we govern by having some adults back at the “grown-up” table. For the last 22 months our future has been in the hands of “day-dreamers” & adolescents at the “kiddies table” who were trying every trick in the book to not eat their vegetables!
